A visit to Hot Springs is not completely without a ride on "the Ducks."
The unique amphibious vehicles known as "Ducks" are fun and a flashback to a part of history that too few of us know about.Few people realize, however, that the technology behind the Ducks actually dates back to World War II. The vehicles were first manufactured by General Motors in 1942 and represented a remarkable accomplishment in military ingenuity and engineering. They were first used in the Pacific in 1943 and American commanders were quick to recognize the value of a vehicle that be used on either land or water.
